HI,

I'm Steve. I live in NE Paris, Kenosha county. I am new to geocaching, having my 1st find on April 13, and my 50th find on April 30. I met Mike of Cacherclan on yesterday at "South African Fleeflammer Bird" and he told me about this site when I asked if there was a local "chapter" of the WGA. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you on the trails.

Welcome to the nest of crazy people. After looking around the other forums and seeing most of the local caches, we have a VERY talented bunch of members.

Hope to see you out and about soon!

Welcome! We look forward to seeing you!

Hmm... I haven't hosted an event in awhile. We need a SE Wisconsin "Spring Fling" or something...

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you on the trails soon. I think I'll fit in well. I already see that there are several Monty Python and Starwars fans, but I haven't seen any references to Fawlty Towers or Dr. Who yet. Judging by many of the puzzles, there are a number of mad scientists (chemists) in the local group of geocachers (including myself). Even almost hidden text in some of the posts in these forums.

I think I'll get along with this group just fine. :badger: badgers

Sorry :innocent: couldn't resist adding the link when I saw that badger smily.

Dr. Who? As in Tom Baker or Peter Davison?

I was thinking Tom Baker, but there are others also, Jon Pertwee and a few others whose names I can't remember right now.

Welcome aboard to the thing we like to call an obsession! We love the old Dr. Who series with Tom Baker of course. The new isn't as good. HOpe to see you on the trails.

Hiya Folks, I'm Pappyhuz... Jerry is my name and I am a "NOOBIE" I got hooked on geocaching by watching some nut climbing the big rocks out by Kennedy Park in the puring rain. He looked like the "Whack -A-Mole" bobbing up and down from rock to rock, momentarily refering to his cellphone ( so I thought ) and then back down in between two more rocks. Then it hit me as I remembered watching the news with Vince Conwhatshisface and remembered about "Geocaching". Then it made sense, this man was so obsessed with this sport / hobby / illness or whatever it is that he'd risk his life and limbs to find some useless treasure. How cool was that? I was immediately consumed by thoughts of doing this myself, heck, I've looked like a fool for lesser goals.
So... here I am, nearly 60 and doing crazier crap than when I drank, getting dirty, muddy, bitten, scratched, poked, torn, ripped, getting exposed to who knows what and LOVING every minute of it. This is even better than the CB radio craze, lol, but I hope it lasts much much longer. It's fun and I am very happy to become a part of it. Thanks for having me.

HI Jerry,
Glad to see you found the board, but I would guess that Mike may have had something to do with that. You and I met at Comfy Chair in Prairie Springs Park about 4 weeks ago. You might want to add waypoint GC12N80 to your calendar. It should be a great opportunity for us noobies to meet some of the local cachers, although your home cache seems like a great way to meet the local cachers also.

Hi Steve, Yes, I remember muggl---oops, I mean meeting you at "Comfy Chair" we had a nice chat. Mike had a lot to do with leading me here and I'm glad he did although after perusing some of his offerings in here and that pic of his, I better choose my friends more carefully from now on. Geez, that guy lives close by, I better upgrade my home security ( bigger dog ). hehehe. Just kidding Mike ( in case he's dangerous) I haven't met anything but great people geocaching so far but then again, I haven't met everyone.
I will try to attend that event, thanks for the heads-up, hope to see you and meet many others there.

Welcome aboard Jerry & Sheila, and Steve (Dr. Who). I haven't met you folks yet, although I think I may have been a little ahead of Steve on the trails out at Bong one day. Oh..don't worry about Mike..he's "mostly harmless".

Hey, I just realized that "nut" was me. Those are pretty tame words to describe me. I was hiding a certain puzzle cache when this guy came over and asked me what I was doing. It was raining at the time. Glad you joined!

Hi all!

I've been lurking on this board for about a week now, I guess it's time I introduce myself. I'm Donna, (dederdh) I'm a noob.... (sounds like something from a 12 step program)

Originally signed up on GC.com a few years ago after reading about geocaching in a family magazine. Was trying to learn as much about it as possible before I took the plunge to buy a GPS. Having a family is expensive so it always got put on the back burner. Recently, I was talking to the hubby about it, and how I wanted one for our anniversary and he promptly told me he has had one in his work van for a couple of years!

Not anymore you don't

Within a half hour with daughter, Gabby, in tow, I found my first cache. I'm hooked!

I've already had the pleasure of meeting a few fellow cachers (Knoffer, Steve and the Cinemaboxers) I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone else!

Happy Caching

Thanks for the warm welcome. I already feel like I'm at home here. I may not post often, but trust me, I'm here.....

And as soon as the hubby gives me back the GPS unit I'll be out and about. He got mad cuz I was caching alone, so he took it away from me. ( I feel like I'm in high school again when my parents took the keys to the car away.) OK, gotta give him that, probubly not the best idea, but I only go to the ones I feel I'm safe at.

So if I want to cache he has to go with. Just trying to figure out how to stratigically place the firewood under his arse to set him on fire and get him off the couch.

Perhaps Rogheff will have some ideas.

Haha

Ooh, a fake firepit?

Good one!

Seriously why not join some of us for a hunt sometime. Lots of women geocachers too (if THAT puts hubby at ease).

Paula said she'd have to kick my @$$ if I were to take the GPS away from her. Hell.... She and Missyja007 took off together at 10:30pm to go after a Green Jeep TB!

So, if you get the urge to cache, you have our #. My wife would be happy to go out there if she's not too incredibly busy.

Welcome aboard Donna. Was nice meeting you a few weeks ago at a new Rogheff cache. Wish I had someone around for support when I hunted my first Rogheff cache. :P
Like Rogheff said there is many Women cachers in the area. PolskaQueen is another great female cacher. Unfortunately with kids out of school for the Summer it slows many Parental cacher units down. If you are ever in doubt of a cache safety or have a concern post a note. There is plenty of people that are more then willing to offer advice or go along for the hunt.

Hope to see on the trails or at an event.

Oh and welcome to the addiction.  :cow: :badger: :whenpigsfly: :drunkfrog: :crow: :flamingo: :whistling: :hmm: :w00t: :yahoo: :moo: :duck: :leek:  :trophy: :bye:

I'm always up for caching during the week after the kiddies are in school. Right now it's slow. Bugs. Mosquitoes. Ticks. That and we've found many of the large caches in the area. Kids refuse to do caches that don't give a payback. As for safety, there is only one time I felt unsafe, and that was at one of Soul Dancer's old hides in Van Patten. Seems it was also the hang out for men seeking....something. You'd think as a female, no one woulda cared, but....I guess I cramped their style. Otherwise, no one creepy has ever crossed my path caching. And terrain has never been an issue as long as you use your brain and don't try to cross the ice when it's been warmer. So........ you can always shoot me an email and I'll go hunting.

Probably my best caching laugh was when I was doing a Clue Cache of Cheesehead Daves when I see someone approach. I'm at the hide trying Not To Be Seen. Of course he saw me, and lurked, figuring I was just a muggle. I replaced the cache and backtracked out, only to find it was Hugh Foundit. He later told me I made enough tracks in my search to confound him.

Lots of cool people to meet, and I've not regretted my gpsr purchase. PQ

Thanks all for the warm welcome and the wonderful advice

I'm on "vacation" right now. (vacation in a sense that I'm not at work scaling teeth and sucking spit) Aside from our trip to Indianapolis this past weekend, I'm home for a few days. You would think it would give me some prime caching time, however the family is keeping me very busy and I have lots of projects around the house to attend to.

I would love to take everyone up on the offers to go caching.... just as soon as I can get caught up on the housework and my schedule slows down a bit.

I hate being a grown up and having responsibilities....

Howdy folks. Many of you know of me, or have already met me. I am "GeekBoy.from.Illinois" (aka Jerry, aka Bear, aka ...). ClickChik and I have been caching for about a year now, and I finally decided to crawl out from under my rock...

Those who have met me, will tell you, I really am the GeekBoy, although there are many others who could easily "out Geek" me. I do tend to have lots of "toys" and generally know how to use most of them.

I look forward to meeting more of you...
